Financing and taxation
Why are we asking the local taxpayer to fund the project?
The local taxpayer is asked to contribute to the extent that he or she will benefit from the positive spin-offs and services associated with the line. This share of the funding, which will come from taxes on businesses, property owners and visitors or tourists, means that 100% public funding can be maintained for a project that will create business and wealth in the South West. The local tax contribution earmarked for the project represents 12% of the project cost. It will be collected from local ratepayers, tourists and second home owners.
